Personal Identity Number
A PIN (Personal Identity Number) is a security feature, which is linked to your SIM Card. This four to six-digit code gives you – and only you – access to your mobile. When you buy your mobile phone the PIN is deactivated by default. It is recommended that you activate your PIN on your SIM Card to avoid unauthorized access to your mobile service. Please refer to your phone menu for directions.
The default PIN onyour SIM Card is 1234.
You can change your PIN anytime, by using your mobile phone menu. Refer to the phone menu for directions to change the default PIN. Once you have accessed it, you can pick four to six numbers of your own choosing. This is now your personal PIN. Remember it, write it down, and keep it in a safe place.
Some suggestions if you have opted to activate your PIN on your SIM
- Always remember your correct PIN when switching on your phone.
- Change your PIN regularly to prevent unauthorized access.
- To change your PIN, refer to your mobile menu or handset manual.
Personal Unblocking Key
The PUK (Personal Unblocking Key), referred to earlier, is located at the back of your SIM Card holder – it is an eight-digit security code. In the event of a theft, if someone keys in five different incorrect PINs in a row, your phone is immediately locked. This also applies if you enter an incorrect PIN five times.
The message “PIN locked” will appear on the screen. You will now need to enter the eight-digit PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) to unlock your phone. Enter this code and follow the instructions on the screen. Should an incorrect PUK be entered ten times in a row, the SIM Card will be permanently cancelled.
To report a lost or stolen SIM Card, call Customer Service at 1-800-804-CWWI (2994). We will disconnect the phone after verification of your identity, to prevent anyone else from using it.
Call this number as well, if you lose your PUK.
